Dr. Matt Wehr was born in Davenport, Iowa, where he lived until he was 28 years old. While in High school he was captain of the swim team and spent his summers as a lifeguard and swim instructor. High school and junior high retreats with St. Paul’s church, St. John Viannie church, and the arch diocese of Chicago was another favorite pass time of his. After high school, he attended Coe college in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. While at Coe, he continued to swim all four years becoming captain during his junior and senior year. Dr. Matt continued to teach swim lessons at the YMCA and privately. Summers were spent at Bettendorf Middle Pool, where he became the head lifeguard, assistant manager, manager, and head of maintenance. During his four years at Coe, Dr. Matt acquired a Bachelors degree in both Biology and General Science.

After college, Dr. Matt worked at a pool company, a landscape company, and a photography shop. M&M Photo was opened as his first business. After two years, Dr. Matt still had this desire to attend Palmer College of Chiropractic. He quit all his jobs accept M&M photo and started Palmer.

Off campus, Dr. Matt still ran M&M Photo and put a commitment to Delta Sigma Chi, a professional philosophical fraternity at Palmer. As a member of Delta Sigma Chi, he became the President of the fraternity house and spent a lot of time learning how to manage people. The experience was rewarding. Another opportunity to learn allowed him visit Brasil. Palmer sent students down to adjust people in places like Mannaus (Amazon river), Novo Hamburgo, Rio Degonaro, and Salvador. It was a wonderful experience. A third opportunity arose at the end of his Palmer career, a five month internship with Dr. Ray and Dr. Mary Marshall. This topped all his learning experiences at school, spending time learning x-ray technique and most importantly how to use that information to help people. What a great experience.
